Dr. Lubna Rana has been practicing medicine for 11 years. She earned her medical degree at Fatimah Jinnah Medical College in Pakistan, and completed her residency in Portsmouth Family Medicine affiliated with Eastern Virginia Medical School. She completed an additional year of residency training in Pediatrics at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
As a family physician, Dr. Rana treats a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. She focuses on comprehensive, continual care and emphasizes prevention and wellness for each patient. Educating patients and families is a critical aspect of Dr. Rana’s care; treating the whole child and encouraging a healthy lifestyle guides her practice.
The development of a strong patient/ doctor relationship is of primary importance to Dr. Rana. “The foundation of all we do in medicine rests on the strength of the doctor patient relationship,” asserts Dr. Rana. “Trust is the cornerstone–built through listening, compassion, education, and effective communication.”
Before opening Capital Family Medicine, Dr. Rana was a staff physician at Winchester Hospital. She has worked as a primary care physician in a practice setting and also worked as an urgent care physician. Dr. Rana lives with her husband and three children–a sixteen year old, and twelve year old twins– in Leesburg. She enjoys travelling, reading, and interior design.
Dr. Jamal Rana joins Capital Family Medicine with 22 years of experience caring for acutely ill children and providing preventive care for children of all ages. He is an expert in caring for children with complicated medical illnesses and syndromes and technology dependent children. Dr. Rana is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Rana has spent his career in medicine focusing exclusively on caring for children's medical needs. "Caring for children's health is my passion. Whether I am providing reassurance that your child is reaching his/or her developmental milestones, treating an illness, or collaborating with a specialist, there is nothing more important to me than maintaining or restoring your child's health."
Dr. Rana graduated from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at Cooper Hospital, an affiliate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden in Camden, New Jersey. He completed a fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron in Akron, Ohio and continued there as an attending physician in the Emergency Department. Dr. Rana has since worked in several Children's hospitals in the United States. He has also worked as a Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at premiere children's hospitals internationally. He is as an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington School of Medicine in Washington, DC.
Dr. Jamal Rana lives in Leesburg with his wife, Dr. Lubna Rana, and three children.
